MANILA, Philippines — As the country celebrates National Disability Rights Week from July 17 to 23, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) honors its deaf employees whose dedication and professionalism have strengthened postal operations and reflect a culture of inclusion that has been part of PHLPost for decades.

Assigned at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, these employees perform vital operational functions, including mail processing, sorting, dispatch preparation, and other support services. Their efficiency, discipline, and attention to detail have made them an integral part of PHLPost’s mission of delivering reliable postal services across the country.

PHLPost’s commitment to inclusive employment dates back more than four decades. During his tenure as Postmaster General from 1981 to 1986, the late Congressman Roilo Golez, championed the hiring of hearing-impaired individuals at the former Bureau of Posts, helping break employment barriers for persons with hearing disabilities at a time when workplace inclusion had yet to become a widely recognized advocacy.
“Our deaf employees have consistently demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and commitment to public service. They are valued members of the PHLPost family and their contributions have helped strengthen our operations over the years,” said Postmaster General Maximo C. Sta. Maria III.
Many of these employees have dedicated years of service to PHLPost, proving that disability is never a barrier to excellence, productivity, and teamwork. Their achievements continue to inspire a workplace where people are recognized for their abilities, dedication and performance.
As PHLPost continues to modernize and expand its services, it remains committed to fostering a workplace where every Filipino is given the opportunity to contribute, grow and succeed.
This National Disability Rights Week, PHLPost proudly honors its employees with disabilities while reaffirming its commitment to building a workforce where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and help the nation.
