Jay Ruiz remains acting PCO chief, says Palace

MANILA – Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Jay Ruiz is still in office, Malacañang said on Friday, dispelling rumors about reorganization in the agency.

“Secretary Jay remains to be the acting secretary of PCO. So, kung may mga ugung-ugong, wala pong nakakarating sa amin (So, if there are rumors, none of them has reached us),” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro told Palace reporters when asked regarding the supposed looming appointment of a new PCO secretary.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reappointed Ruiz as acting PCO secretary after the latter’s ad interim appointment was deemed bypassed by the Commission on Appointments when Congress adjourned sine die on June 13.

The CA was scheduled to deliberate on Ruiz’s appointment on June 3 but deferred it due to lack of time.

Marcos earlier directed Ruiz to continue his work as head of the PCO despite the CA’s failure to tackle his appointment.

Ruiz thanked Marcos for his continued trust and confidence in him, following the decision to reappointment him.

He vowed to continue to lead the PCO “with professionalism, integrity, and purpose.” (PNA)
