PDIC concludes successful nationwide observance of the 24th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) successfully concluded the nationwide observance of the 24th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) from June 16 to 22, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to promoting financial literacy, depositor confidence, and a stronger culture of saving in banks among Filipinos.

Centered on the theme, “Kapag sa bangko may ipon, handa anumang panahon,” this year’s celebration underscored the important role of maintaining deposits in banks to help individuals and families respond to life’s uncertainties while working toward long-term financial security and future aspirations.

To maximize the campaign’s reach, the Corporation mobilized the support of individual banks, bank associations, government agencies, and private sector partners, who actively disseminated DPAW information materials through their digital platforms, social media channels, and office premises. The campaign’s visibility was further amplified through text blasts made possible by the PDIC’s partnership with the Philippine Information Agency, enabling the DPAW message to reach millions of Filipinos nationwide.

As part of its public awareness campaign, the Corporation also released a series of feature articles that highlighted how saving in banks empowers individuals to navigate various life situationsโ€”from emergencies and unexpected expenses to education, entrepreneurship, and retirement. Published through the online platforms of national and local media organizations, these stories reinforced the importance of responsible saving as a lifelong financial habit.

Further enriching this year’s celebration, the PDIC launched its first-ever DPAW digital magazine, a publication designed to deepen public appreciation of DPAW and its significance to the Philippine financial system. Available through the corporate website, the magazine featured messages from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr., Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, and heads of bank associations, alongside informative articles that echoed the campaign’s central message of financial preparedness and resilience.

The Corporation also strengthened its digital engagement through a special DPAW edition of its “Patanong sa PDIC. Sagot ni POLA!” social media series, providing the public with accessible and practical information on DPAW, deposit insurance, and smart saving practices. POLA or the PDIC Online Assistant, is the AI-powered corporate chatbot. By delivering financial education in an engaging and easy-to-understand format, the campaign encouraged more Filipinos to make informed financial decisions and cultivate healthy saving habits.

The successful conclusion of the 24th DPAW reflects the collective commitment of the PDIC and its partners to foster a financially informed and resilient nation. Through sustained depositor education and stronger stakeholder collaboration, the Corporation continues to promote depositor confidence, encourage responsible banking, and contribute to the stability of the Philippine banking system.

The annual observance of DPAW is mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 358 issued in 2003 to reinforce public trust in the banking system, promote financial literacy, and strengthen the stability of the country’s financial sector.
